Hair Color

I’m Misty King, the color specialist behind Mistykal Hair Designs inside Faux Real in Lubbock. I love a big color idea. I also know when your hair is telling us to slow down.

A quick text is enough to start. I’ll tell you if photos, a call, or an in-person consultation makes sense.

Let’s start with what is really on your head

I work with vivid and pastel color, classic shades, natural coverage, dimensional brunettes, and major lightening or darkening changes. Before I mix anything, I want the full story: old color, home color, lightener, texture, porosity, and what your hair can handle today.

Some changes take time

Sometimes we can make the change in one appointment. Sometimes the smartest answer is not yet. I’ll tell you what looks possible, what may take several visits, and where pushing harder could cost too much in strength or condition.

03

Color has a life after you leave

Vivid shades fade differently than natural color. Blondes may need toning. Dimensional work may need a gloss between lightening visits. We’ll talk about upkeep before we choose the plan, so the color still makes sense on an ordinary Tuesday morning.

Good to know

Before your appointment

Should I text before booking color?

Please do for vivid color, correction, or a major change. Send a current photo, your inspiration, and anything you know about previous color. I’ll tell you whether we should talk by phone or meet in person first.

Can dark hair become very light in one visit?

It depends on what is already in the hair and how it responds. Several appointments are often the safer answer, especially after dark or repeated color.

What should I bring for inspiration?

Bring a few photos and tell me what you like in each one. We’ll separate the color idea from the lighting, filter, cut, and starting point in the picture.

Have a question?

Text me. We’ll figure out the right next step.

You don’t need to commit to a formal consultation just to ask. Tell me what you’re considering, and I’ll let you know whether photos, a phone call, or an in-person consultation will help.
